The Cordwainer fills a six-story brick leather works on a cobbled Old City street, two blocks from Independence Hall and a short walk from the Delaware River. For a century the building cut and stitched shoe leather; today its 300 rooms keep the tall factory windows, timber beams and brick walls, with deep beds, rain showers and blackout curtains.
Downstairs, the Tannery serves breakfast and dinner under the original brick vaults, the bar pours Pennsylvania rye by the fireplace, and the rooftop lounge looks across the river to the Ben Franklin Bridge.
